General Information
Visa
Two types of Visa are EVT - FIT
and EVT (Tour Package).
E.V.T (Free Individual Tourists) visa can be applied
at overseas Myanmar Embassies. Visa fee is USD20.
EVT (Tour Package) is for those which need to be
applied visa at Myanmar Embassy or consulate with
prior arrangements and confirmation from Travel
Agencies in Myanmar. MVTT will be providing a
confirmation letter to the Embassy for those clients
who bought a tour from us or hotel accommodation,
transfers and one optional tour or flight tickets
together.
Visa on Arrival - For the countries where there is
no Myanmar Embassies or Consulate, our company will
arrange visa on arrival and the following
information of the clients are advised to send
(email, by post) us at least 21 days before the arrival:
1. Full names and Passport numbers. ( Issue / Expiry
dates)
2. Father's name.
3. Date of Birth and place of birth.
4. Occupation.
5. Home address.
6. Nationality.
7. 2 recent passport-sized photographs.
8. Countries for passport valid.
Hotel Rates
There are variety of hotels -
size ranging from the family run guest houses to 4-5
stars hotels.
International-class hotles are operating in capital
cities -Yangon and Mandalay. Hotel reservations will
be made by us upon the confirmed client's option. Or
we can fix the best one which will match with your
budget. Hotel rates varies from 20 USD to 250 USD
per day depending on the class and facilities.
Luxury Hotels are above 500$.
Airline Infos
Client may effort his/her own
ticket to Yangon and it is necessary to inform us
the arrival (date, flight no. and time). We will
take care of confirmation and reservation matters.
International - Malaysia Airline,
Air Asia, Qartar Airways, Air China, Bangkok Airway,
Madrin Airline, Bangladesh Biman Airlines, China
Eastern Airlines, Indian Airlines, Silkair, Myanmar
Airways International, Thai Airways...
Domestic - Three major domestic
airlines within the country are Yangon Airways, Air
Mandalay and Myanmar Airways. Domestic airfares are
already included in package rate.
Car and Train
Some journeys are nice to made by
car both for city tours and for day time highways
trips. Air-conditioned micro-buses, coaches and
private saloons can be arranged/rented at hourly or
daily basis upon prior bookings.
Trains, with special sleeper
beds, are used especially for overnight trip to
Mandalay for those who do not bother about the
travelling time and also want to enjoy the social
life and surrounding scenarios along the railway.
Brief DOs and DONTS
As the majority of the people are
Buddhists, it is wise to duplicate the way that
local people practice. Obviously, foot-wearing is
strictly prohibited in premises of all pagoda and
monasteries. Too-much-exposing outfits are also not
appropriate for religious tours. Monks and nuns are
highly respected and don't offer to shake hands with
them. Elderly people are given special cares.
Myanmar people are apparently
helpful-minded if requested politely. Tipping is not
compulsory but appreciated. International-class
hotels already charge 10% tax on the bill.

Local people are commonly fond of sports, music,
chatting and jokes but shy with strangers on the
other hand.

Meeting with officials should seek prior
appointments. Government offices open 9:30am to
4:30pm and close on weekends.

There are very few nightlife spots and and
prostitution is considered illegal.

Public hugs and kiss can be considered
embarrassing and indecent

Bottled water is recommended for hygienic purpose.

English is understandable by local people in
cities but not in rural areas. Please depend on a
reliable and caring guide.

Almost all the touring spots are safe and secure.
But it is wise to avoid wearing valuable things on
the journey. Personal medicines should be kept handy
for emergencies.

Some places need to pay entrance fees but they are
included in package prices.
Currencies
Local currency notes is called
KYAT and is issued at 5, 10, 15, 20, 45, 90, 200,
500 and 1000 notes. Exchanging rates with US$ is
varying. It is recommended to exchange only at
authorized dealers. Except hotels, big plazas and
diplomatic stores, cash payment is easier than using
Credit cards or travellers' cheques.
Food
Chinese, Indian, European and
typical Myanmar cuisine are widely available at
large restaurants throughout the country. Some
specific foodshops offer French, Thai, Japan,
Italian and rare dishes. The price is reasonably
cheap compared to international market price.
Superior hotels offer fully stocked bars with both
domestic and imported beer, wine and hard liquors.
Myanmar people usually take breakfast two major
meals - lunch around 11-12am and dinner at 5-6pm.
Experienced local guide can lead you to the best
place to eat. Typical Myanmar breakfast - Monhingar
(fish soup with rice noodle) is a must to try.
Media
State-run daily newspaper, named
New Light of Myanmar and other international
newspapers are available at hotel newsstands. Radio
and television, postal and telecommunication
services are also centralized by government.
Internet and email access are existing at some
hotels and cyber-cafes in cities. The cinemas
feature Myanmar, Indian, Chinese and western films.

Embassies and consulates in
Yangon are Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China,
France, Germany, India, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal,
Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United
Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
Holidays and Festivals
Apart from gazetted holidays -
about 10 days per year, Myanmar has various
festivals, which are of political, seasonal,
religious and social backgrounds. Water festival in
April (same as Songkran in Thailand) is the most
significant one among all. Festival lovers can make
specific festive tours on special occasions.
Shopping
Tourist may confuse what to buy
from Myanmar as many tempting items are seen
everywhere. Most recommended items are genuine
gemstones and jewelleries, lacquer wares,
woodcarvings, embroideries, traditional costumes and
paintings.
